It's a grand day indeed...
...when I can go watch the cheetah's run. I've written about them before and I'm gonna' do it again. I love the Animal Ark. If you don't know about it, please visit http://www.animalark.org. I've been out there many times and haven't even visited the bears yet because the big cats always catch my eye. The run their cheetahs regulary but the public can only go once a month during the warm months. Today they also had a visiting cheetah from Fresno, CA named Tonga. He was on display with his handlers and we could get within 5-6 feet of him. I got my old creaking bones down on the ground so I could be eye level with him and took an entire 8gb card of photos. What a treat but also so frustrating---I wanted to hug him!!!!
The mountain lion is a 16 year old by the name of Tonka. He is arthritic but he still is a handsome fellow.

Cabby: These are beautiful photographs, of beautiful animals. So glad you had a chance to go to the Ark again!
Amazing faces on these cats. Beautifully photographed. Did you hear? Janet G. almost hit a mountain lion as she was driving back to her motel down the road in Yachats the other night! Yikes!
Cabby, these are beautiful photos! Sounds like you had a great day...so glad you were able to get those "creaking bones" to get you down to eye level. What a wonderful place to visit.
