Revisiting the Horses...

I've been out to see the horses a couple of times since I last posted. Even though I was gladdened by the number of horses, I didn't see the band with the sweet foal in it. Today I found them. After returning home and looking at the photos from a few weeks ago, I realized one mare was not in the group. Hopefully she joined another band and wasn't captured by the $%^&* BLM. I mentioned that last time that a young stallion seemed to have been kicked out but still was staying close to the herd much to the ire of the older stallion. Well, he's still hanging around and keeps his distance. The band wasn't as close as the last time and they didn't seem as accepting of my presence as before so I suspect the BLM has been rounding them up.

Above the little sweetheart is getting some nurishment and then he/she decided to take refuge under mom's tail. At one point I got too close. The older stallion started down the road and then beckoned his brood to follow. It felt like he turned around and told me to back off!! So I stopped and watched them head into the hills---notice that the ostracized stallion is following at a safe distance.

What a fantastic opportunity! I especially love the foal looking through Mom's tail. Talk about a "picture in a picture"!
